ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran was honored to host Uri Dori, Chairman of U. Dori Group, one of Israel’s leading construction companies. Dori was a special guest of Dov Lautman, one of ALEH’s most active board members, who accompanied Dori on a tour of the village.
The visit was especially memorable, since Lautman is wheelchair-bound. Despite the physical difficulty, he took the time to travel from Jerusalem to the Negev and see for himself the growth the village has experienced since its inception.
Joining them for the tour were Major General (Res) Doron Almog, Chairman of ALEH Negev; Yehuda Marmorstein, CEO of ALEH; Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, ALEH board member; and Masada Scali, Director of the village.
Both Uri Dori and Dov Lautman could not contain their feelings at seeing the village and the residents, living and loving every moment despite their serious challenges.
“I had pictured seeing something completely different,” said Dori emotionally. “The idea behind this village, its mission and the way it is fulfilling its dream is something extraordinary. I am honored to have been invited to join such a special group of people working on behalf of these children, and hope to be able to help the children continue to grow and develop.”
Rabbi Rabinowitz thanked the guests for the encouragement their visit offered at this difficult economic time. He invited Dori to “partner with G-d,” and Mr. Almog added: “This is our challenge as human beings.”
