WALKING TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE – AND TAKING GREAT STRIDES TO FOLLOW UP!
Aug 8, 2012
A few months ago, the sixth grade at The Brandeis School in Lawrence, NY organized a school- wide walkathon that sought to raise money for ALEH. Over 100 people took part in the ambitious Boardwalk stroll, and their efforts raised over $5,000 for ALEH! The initiative was part of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah program, where students undertake to support a worthy charity, and we are very grateful that they chose ALEH as the recipient of their good works.
Through their tremendous efforts, ALEH was able to purchase a much needed Resuscitation Cart for the residential unit in ALEH Jerusalem.
The Resuscitation Cart is one of the most important pieces of equipment because it contains all of the equipment and medications needed for advanced life support and CPR. This life saving emergency equipment is brought to a child’s bedside if (G-D Forbid) his/her heart or lungs are failing or have failed, giving the medical staff all the necessary equipment to save a life!
The Brandeis Walkathon was recognized locally in the press and in ALEH’s News– but their involvement did not stop there!
Last week, Korral Shapira, Offir Cohen, and Danielle Russo represented their classmates in a wonderful visit to ALEH Jerusalem. The girls came with their parents, grandparents and siblings to visit the residence and to present ALEH with a check for 20,500 NIS!!
On behalf of ALEH’s children, staff and administration – we stand beside the Brandeis students as they continue to take great strides to make a better future for all of us.
