Volunteer Outing in Jerusalem
Our monthly volunteer outing was this time in Jerusalem. There are currently more than 30 foreign volunteers active at ALEH, in Jerusalem, Gedera and the Negev. We split up into two groups.
The first group started at the Gush Katif Museum where they learned more about the history and eviction of Gush Katif (the former Jewish villages in the Gaza Strip) and its impact on the Israeli population more than 10 years ago.
The second group started with a tour of ALEH in Jerusalem. Then we met at the Shuk (market) where we did a Scavenger hunt / photo safari in small groups. The groups had to take pictures of all kinds of things, eg the smallest vegetables, the biggest fruit, things of different colors, something funny, something stinking, group picture with a soldier, policeman or musician etc. etc. This has produced some beautiful and creative photos!
Then the second group went to the Gush Katif Museum and the first group went shopping for and preparing the barbecue in the Sachar park in the middle of Jerusalem. We had a nice meal together and there was time for volunteers from different locations to get to know each other better. It was a lot of fun!
We are already looking forward to the next outing. Will you be there too?
