Lieutenant General Benny Gantz – Former Chief of General Staff of the IDF
Lieutenant General Benny Gantz was born in Israel in 1959. With his enlistment in the Parachutists’ Brigade in 1977, he embarked on a distinguished military career, including appointment as commander of numerous brigades within the IAF and the parachutists’ reservists. Over the years, he headed the Parachutists’ Brigade, the IDF division in Judea and Shomron, the Northern Command and the Ground Forces Command. From 2011-2015 General Gantz served as Chief of General Staff of the IDF.
General Gantz holds a bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s degree in political science, and another master’s in management of national resources from the National Defense University in the United States. He is married and the father of four children.
