Avi Wortzman – Director, ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran
Avi Wortzman serves as CEO of the ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village, which benefits Israel’s southern population. Avi assumed directorship of the facility following 2 decades of public service. His extensive experience spans leadership positions in federal and local government, as well as in a variety of significant social and educational concerns, such as special education and youth at risk.
In the 1990’s, Avi was an important absorption activist during the mass emigration of Jews from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union. Between 2002 and 2008, he served as Director General of the MiBereishit Movement for Jewish Education and initiated the Masa Israel Journey program for students. He also acted as CEO of HaKotel Hesder Yeshiva, and as advisor to the Minister of Construction and Housing for Negev Development. Throughout his first 15 years of public service, Avi was Director of the Beersheva branch of Beit Moriah, an education and welfare network he had founded.
Mr. Wortzman is a resident of Beersheva, where he lives with his wife Ilanit and their 4 children.
