Passover at ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran
Feelings of rejuvenation and excitement accompany the Passover holiday at ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran as the entire staff rallies to action for holiday preparations. Prior to the holiday, groups of residents go out shopping for new holiday clothing, each one choosing items in keeping with his / her individual taste. Residents browse around, choose and try on items of their choice, finally going to the cashier to pay for themselves. Each resident also chose an additional article of clothing for a friend who stayed in the village, unable to join the outing.
Seder night saw residents dressed in holiday garb, as staff and National Service girls brought the story of the Haggada and Passover customs to life with visual symbols. Everyone sang the customary Four Questions together, followed by “Avodim Heinu” (We Were Slaves), “Echad Mi Yodea” (Who Knows One) and other Passover songs while tasting traditional holiday foods.
On the second day of Passover, residents, staff and employees’ families enjoyed a fun-filled happening, as a variety of game and activity stands filled the village, including soap bubbles, juggling, musical instruments, hair styling and make-up and more. Students, staff, families, volunteers and National Service girls were all mesmerized by the amazing activities, together with other special guests including El Al’s most excellent volunteers, the Israeli Comptroller General and the Ministry for Social Equality, a supporter of community activity at the village amphitheater.
Afula’s well-known singing group “HaSdera” arrived from the north on Wednesday for a special and exciting show, electrifying the crowd with their songs.
A huge thank-you to all employees, partners, volunteers and family members who took part and helped during the entire holiday week, encircling residents of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran with unbounding love and affection.
