Passover and Spring Outdoors at ALEH

Wednesday, April 11th, 2018

ALEH welcomed Passover and the rejuvenating spring weather with plenty of outdoor activity, before, during and after the holiday.

At ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran, residents decorated the Seder table with flowers they themselves grew and picked as part of their therapeutic gardening activity. Our dedicated National Service volunteers enlivened the Seder with songs and stories, ensuring an enjoyable time for all, and both volunteers and staff were thrilled to receive lovely gifts at the end of the evening – plants seeded and grown in the village’s therapeutic garden.

The remainder of the week was spent in various outdoor activities including zumba classes with Sigal, an African drumming workshop, fun at the safari petting zoo and more.

Residents of ALEH Jerusalem celebrated the week of Passover with their fourth annual Passover Happening including inflatable bouncers, fruit-shake stands, balloons, bubbles, drums, music and enough fun and excitement to keep everyone smiling all week long.

At ALEH Moriah, the week’s excitement overflowed past the holiday with a special trip the day after Passover. Under the auspices of AKIM, the National Organization for People with Intellectual Disabilities, residents were treated to a trip to the Herzliya Marina, where Yardit and Hodaya of the Lotem Organization for Making Nature Accessible treated residents to a tour, including a sensory workshop at the beach with shells, sand and water. The spring trip ended with a great lunch in Petach Tikva before everyone returned home, happy, tired and smiling.
