What makes a family? At ALEH, it is our special children that are the heart, surrounded by a loving and caring staff. But ALEH believes strongly in a third component: the integral bond between the children and their natural families, and parents are strongly encouraged to be personally involved in all aspects of their children’s care.
This emphasis on family connection has grown to encompass warm bonds between caregivers and the parents, and at ALEH Negev, parents recently decided to show their appreciation with a special evening honoring the dedicated staff. The bonds of family and friendship were cemented as the parents and caregivers gathered together to celebrate those who work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, devoting themselves to the welfare of their children.
Masada Scali, Director of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran, kicked off the festivities, enthusiastically applauding the parents’ initiative. “Those who work here do so with all their heart,” she said. “It is gratifying to see that their work is recognized and appreciated.”
Representatives of the parents’ group also heaped praise on the staff, while the caregivers themselves spoke of the special connections they had formed with the families. The evening included a sumptuous banquet spread and a music and dance program accompanied by a talented musician. To cap off the event, each worker was presented with a personal gift from SuperPharm’s Spa Collection.
As one parent emotionally explained: “These are our children, the most precious gifts in this world. It is painful to know that we cannot care for them as we had hoped, but it is heartening and comforting to know that here they are receiving the best care possible, from people who love them as though they were their own children.”
Thanks to all who joined in the celebrations. You serve as an inspiration to all who are part of ALEH’s extended family, friends and supporters.
