Contractors Tour Site of Planned Hospital at ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran
The first rehabilitation hospital in the South, which will provide a solution to the present lack of local advanced rehabilitative services, is scheduled to be built in the ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitative village. Currently, people in need of hospitalization during a rehabilitative period are sent to hospitals in central Israel. The distance from family and familiar surroundings and the difficulty in long-distance support, adds an additional burden to the rehabilitation process.
ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran provides quality, advanced rehabilitative services by a high-level professional staff. It is close to surrounding towns in the southern region and, most importantly, it offers unconditional love to every person, whoever he or she may be.
The architectural offices of Ada Karmi-Melamede and Lea Shneor have been working on this project for over two years, designing plans, ensuring accessibility, and accompanying the project with its many partners.
During the past two weeks, we have conducted tours with contractors, following publication of a tender and in preparation of the final selection of a contractor to implement the project. Actual building is set to begin within the next two months.
In truth, the first rehabilitative department opened at the village about one year ago, and has some 25 patients. Building the rehabilitation hospital at the village will expand the rehabilitation department and make it accessible to hundreds of people throughout the Negev region.
The contractors’ tours of the hospital site marks a significant milestone towards construction of the Negev’s first rehabilitation hospital, which will take its place in the forefront of the State of Israel’s rehabilitation care system.
