“I know my daughter now for 12 years and I never saw her working like this. It’s a miracle!”
This comment, from a parent of a child receiving computer therapy in ALEH’s School, explains a little of what computer therapy can do for children with severe disabilities.
ALEH’s Computer Room is the most challenging room for the students. “When we come into the room, the teacher first adjusts each computer to fit the height of each student. She then helps each of us choose a game that we like, or we can choose ourselves. We use the computer by pressing on a switch – a big button that is attached to the mouse. By pressing, we can move the pictures on the screen. Sometimes we can touch the screen itself to play the game.”
ALEH’s next project is to send computerized material home with the school children, enabling them to tell their families stories every evening.
