A Volunteers’ Salute to Major General (Res) Doron Almog
The ALEH network of centers salutes Major General (Res) Doron Almog, Chairman of the ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village, upon his receipt of the Presidential Award for Voluntarism.
Presented by President Shimon Peres in conjunction with the National Council of Voluntarism in Israel, the prestigious award recognized Mr. Almog’s ongoing efforts to raise the standard and quality of rehabilitation for people with disabilities in Israel.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Almog stressed his feeling that his acceptance of this award is on behalf of children like his son Eran z”l, who was his greatest teacher. “Through his piercing silence, Eran taught me about the world of the most vulnerable members of society. He left behind an unwritten will and legacy which is an ongoing test for all of us – to never abandon the vulnerable, and to do all that we can to provide them and their families with a future of hope. The more we know how to give to them, the better we ourselves become as a society.”
Mr. Almog stepped up to accept his award flanked by his two grandchildren, Ori and Yahali. The Aleh Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village is named after their uncle Eran Almog z”l, brother of their mother Dr. Nitzan Almog, who has dedicated herself to improve the quality of life for the disabled in Israel.
