A VIP Volunteer: Shai Hajaj, Head of Merhavim Regional Council, Teaches Music Class For ALEH Negev Children

A few weeks ago, the staff of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran advertised for volunteers to facilitate the various enrichment activities at the village. These include a music class, fitness group, movement therapy and story acting.

Shai Hajaj, Head of the Merhavim Regional Council, in which the village is located, saw the announcement and immediately offered his services for a music class.

Shai came in with his keyboard, and played for the children in the village’s integrated kindergarten.  This was a very special activity for the kids. They followed the lesson closely, sang along with Shai and joined him in playing instruments. The teachers were very moved at having a VIP leading the class, and documented the event. Avi Wortzman, Director of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran, even joined in the celebration.

This was a wonderful and very special experience that involved and connected all the children; a joint activity between children from the village and the kindergarten children from the region who do not have special needs.

Shai Hajaj set an outstanding personal example for all of the village’s staff and volunteers. Our many devoted volunteers are those who make a significant difference in the quality of life that we provide to the village’s residents. Every volunteer can facilitate a special activity or class, with immense added value. Shai Hajaj succeeded in inspiring all of us. Thank you, Shai!
